will transform the gardens precinct on 11.2 hectares on Craigieburn Road.

Included in the plan, which was adopted by Hume Council at its meeting last week, is the development of a BMX track, a dog park and a playground for all ages and abilities.

Cr Drew Jessop welcomed the plan and said it had been a long time coming.

“Years ago when I first moved into Craigieburn it was a big hole in the middle of the town centre,” he said.

“It’s fair to say the community has been waiting many years for it to finally become a quality park that it was always meant to be.”

Cr Jessop said there had been many things on residents’ wishlists that would come to fruition.

“There will be a dog play space and a BMX track, which has long been required by Craigieburn’s youth,” he said.

“It’s really an excellent thing that after 20-odd years we’re now going to have a really clear plan and the money in place.”

It’s estimated the redevelopment plan, created by Jeavons Landscape Architects and @leisure, will be completed by 2016.
