The former Broadmeadows resident was a four sets to two winner against Czech Dana Hadacova in her first round of the women’s singles event.
But Chinese Taipei’s Yi-Hua Huang proved too strong with a four sets to love win in the second round.
The 31-year-old Chinese-born Miao will now compete in the team events for Australia, whose first-round opponent is Germany on Friday.
