New requirements for jobless

FAMILIES, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs Minister Jenny Macklin last week visited Broadmeadows UnitingCare to tell Hume parents about the federal government’s new participation requirements for jobless families.

Under the program, about 3400 Hume parents will be required to meet regularly with Centrelink to plan for their return to work.

The new requirements affect parents with children aged under six who have been on income support for two years or more, or who are under 23 and not working or studying full time.
