Beauty in her hands: Se Vang shows one of her tapestries. Picture: Scott McNaughtonTHE traditions of Laos have followed artist Se Vang to Craigieburn.
Ms Vang, a Laotian refugee, moved to Craigieburn 23 years ago.
She is exhibiting her tapestries in a Heartlands Refugee Fine Art Prize Exhibition and is among nine Hume residents, and 42 refugees, who will have their artworks on display with the chance to share in $15,000 prizemoney.
Ms Vang says her tapestry, titled Where Hope Lies, took a lot of hard work to create.
She says she has been doing embroidery – a tradition in Laos – for more than 30 years.
Prize-winners will be announced and awarded at an exhibition tonight.
